VISA Information
Every foreign national visiting Nepal will require a Visa, except for Indian nationals. Countries listed under Table 1 must acquire Visa before their arrival to Nepal. For other countries, Visa on-arrival can be obtained at the Tribhuvan International Airport.

SIM Cards and Network
Prepaid SIM cards are available for purchase at the Tribhuvan International Airport. To acquire one, visitors will need to complete a registration form and submit necessary documents such as a photocopy, arrival Visa, and a passport-sized photo. Tourist SIM cards are also available, and prices will vary depending on the chosen package and the duration of validity. Major mobile service providers in Nepal are Nepal Telecom (NTC), Ncell, and Smart Cell.
Currency
The official currency is Nepalese Rupee (NPR or Rs. or रू). Foreign currency can be exchanged at banks and authorized money exchange counters. Please be sure to compare exchange rates to get the best deal. Credit and debit cards are usually accepted at hotels, restaurants, and shops in the city area. It is recommended to always carry some amount of cash for transactions, just in case.
Weather Overview
In June, Kathmandu experiences a transition to warmer temperatures, typically ranging from 25 to 30 degrees Celsius, signaling the onset of the monsoon season. Attendees can anticipate an atmosphere characterized by increased humidity, occasional rainfall, and overcast skies, particularly in the afternoon and evening hours. Please remember to dress accordingly, keeping in mind comfort and preparedness for the weather fluctuations.
Electric Plug Types
Most common types of plugs used in Nepal are Type C (two pin), Type D (three round pins in a triangular pattern), and Type M (three round pins). It is advisable to bring a universal adapter for your convenience.
Travel from Tribhuvan International Airport
For travel from Tribhuvan International Airport, visitors have several options. They can arrange for taxi pickup services through their hotel in advance, provided that they offer this service. Alternatively, taxis can be booked directly at the airport. Taxis are also available outside the airport premises. Please be mindful, as taxis outside the airport might be a bit more proactive in offering their services.
Public transportation options such as buses, micros, and tempos are available. Additionally, ride-sharing apps for convenient taxi or motorcycle pick-up and drop-off services can also be used. Some popular ride-sharing apps in Nepal include InDrive, Pathao, Tootle, Sajilo Saathi, and Taximandu. You will require a local Nepali SIM card to register into these apps.
